At E.R. Sawyer Jewelers, we’re committed to giving back to the local community. Through fundraisers and other charitable events, we enjoy donating our time and money towards the success of various non-profits and associations. To help put our contributions into perspective, just last year alone we’ve helped raise roughly $200,000! But it’s not always about the money. As much as monetary support helps our local non-profits, they also need our physical presence and support to help raise awareness.
That’s why we partnered with Mercedes-Benz of Santa Rosa on October 5th, 2015 to bring Sonoma County the 2015 Mercedes-Benz Dealer Championship Golf Tournament. This afternoon charity event took place at the Sonoma Golf Club, and all proceeds were donated to benefit the YWCA of Sonoma County.
Madeleine O’Connell, CEO of the Sonoma County YWCA, stated that this particular annual event represents one of the largest funding sources for the non-profit group. This year, we helped raise a massive $15,000 that will be used responsibly to help the YWCA carry out its mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote equality, peace, justice, dignity, and freedom. In Sonoma County, the YWCA is fighting to end domestic violence through empowerment and education of our women. One of the many beneficial services they provide to victims of domestic abuse is the Safe House program: a 60-day therapeutic residential refuge where women can be educated on their legal rights, and nurtured through support groups. After this 2-month period, women can continue to receive therapy and on-going support for up to 2 years through the Adobe Aftercare Program.
The YWCA’s struggle to end domestic abuse in Sonoma County has been successful, but is far from complete. Through the Mercedes-Benz Dealer Championship Golf Tournament and other events, we hope to continue to support this amazing organization achieve their goals.
